Cerebrospinal Fluid Protein Concentration in Healthy Older Japanese Volunteers

چکیده
The concentration of cerebrospinal fluid total protein (CSF-TP) is important for the diagnosis neurological emergencies. Recently, some Western studies have shown that current upper reference limit CSF-TP quite low older patients. However, little reported about in Asian population. In this study, we retrospectively analyzed concentrations healthy Japanese volunteers. CSF samples 69 volunteers (age range: 55–73 years) were collected by lumbar puncture, and data analyzed. mean (standard deviation) was 41.7 (12.3) mg/dL. group (≥65 years old) had higher than younger (55–64 old). 2.5th percentile 97.5th estimated as 22.5 73.2 mg/dL, respectively, which range Japan (10–40 mg/dL). Conclusions: interval population should be reconsidered precise

Low penetration of oseltamivir and its carboxylate into cerebrospinal fluid in healthy Japanese and Caucasian volunteers.
Oseltamivir is a potent, well-tolerated antiviral for the treatment and prophylaxis of influenza. Although no relationship with treatment could be demonstrated, recent reports of abnormal behavior in young individuals with influenza who were receiving oseltamivir have generated renewed interest in the central nervous system (CNS) tolerability of oseltamivir. This single-center, open-label study...
متن کاملHourly variability of cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers in Alzheimer's disease subjects and healthy older volunteers
Large hour-to-hour variability has previously been demonstrated in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) concentrations of Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarkers amyloid β(42) (Aβ(42)) and Aβ(40) in healthy younger subjects. We investigated the within-subject variability over 36 hours in CSF Aβ and tau proteins, in older subjects and AD patients. Six patients with mild stage AD (59-85 years, Mini Mental S...

Meningitis is one of the most common infectious cerebral nervous system (CNS), defined as an inflammation of the meninges. It is clinically categorized into a chronic and acute based on the acuity of symptoms. Vomiting, bulging fontanel and fever are the main symptoms in the patients with meningitis. Bacterial meningitis is a severe, potentially life-threatening infection that is associated wit...
متن کاملFactors influencing the concentration gradient of protein in cerebrospinal fluid.
The concentration of protein in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is about 0.5 per cent that of plasma. This difference in concentration is generally considered (1) to be dependent upon the blood-CSF barrier. The normal concentration gradient of protein from a low level in the ventricles, 6 to 15 mg. per cent, to an intermediate level in the cisterna magna, 15 to 25 mg. per cent, to the highest lev...
متن کاملSimple method for concentration of cerebrospinal fluid for protein electrophoresis.
MOST CLINICAL LABORATORIES use paper electrophoresis for the separahon and quantitation of serum proteins. There has been increasing iiiterest in the fractionation of proteins Ill other body fluids, particularly cerebrospinal fluid. Successful paper electrophoresis requires a high protein concentration in the fluid applied to the l)POF strips, If tile total protein content of spinal fluid is no...
